ABOUT US

NEUROSURGICAL SIMUALTION

Throughout medical history, simulation has been utilised to practice and plan complex procedures and nowadays has become a crucial complementary training tool for residents’ formation.

“Simulation” is defined as the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system, over time. The application of this method of training in the field of neurosurgery has originated simulators able of recreating neurosurgical scenarios and procedures in order to allow neurosurgeons to learn, practice and rehearse these. The advanced technology, 3D virtual reality with haptic feedback environment created by each simulator has transformed these simulators into useful and supportive tools for all neurosurgeons, to be used as surgical planners by navigating through the complicated anatomy of the patient’s cranium; as means of communication with patients; as rehearsal tools for more experienced surgeons and training tools for students and residents.
