Junior Training Program

Medical students at the Fondazione I.R.C.C.S. Istituto Neurologico “Carlo Besta” are welcome to attend daily rounds and observe surgical procedures performed in the OR; they thus have the possibility to better understand what the environment in which a neurosurgeon works looks like. As far as it concerns the Besta NeuroSim Center (BNSC), students get the unique opportunity to try our top-notch neurosurgical simulators, specifically designed to learn and get to know some of the core neurosurgical procedures they would not otherwise put into practice before getting into residency; these young students also have the privilege of taking part in several ongoing research projects, along with playing an active role in numerous training programs and activities, such as the annual EANS meetings. Moreover, they can work on their graduation thesis projects and contribute to our studies according to their own interest and dedication. Overall, the experience at Besta and the BNSC is a challenging and appealing one, offering any medical student the chance to understand more thoroughly the work of a neurosurgeon and to start building a successful curriculum as future physicians.
