AO Neuro Davos Course

The Besta NeuroSim Center’s team proudly participated to the AO Neuro Course – Neurotrauma that took place from December 11th to 13th, 2017 in Davos, Switzerland. It focused on instructing neurosurgeons and residents on all aspects related to neurotrauma and training them in the use of the current best strategies for managing neurotrauma patients.

To hold the simulation session within this course, the Besta NeuroSim Center managed to bring most of its simulators. The course participants were asked to complete a variety of tasks at each simulator in which they would practice specific technical neurosurgical skills in a safe environment.  These tasks were all related to neurotrauma surgery, such as the placement of an EVD and the coagulation of a bleeding spots; moreover the candidates also performed reasoning and spatial orientation tests as done in our previous courses too.

Our aim of this two day simulation session was to gather and record some data to be integrated in our ongoing research projects, regarding the importance and validity of simulators for future neurosurgical training programs.

Overall this simulation session was extremely successful as all participants and faculty members enjoyed the experience and contributed eagerly to this educational research project. We are very thankful and honored for having this partnership with the Global Neuro family and we look forward to participating to their next initiatives and projects.
